Teaching in Taiwan

¡@¡@Salaries for native speaker English teachers in Taiwan typically range from NT $ 50,000 to NT $ 60,000 per month. Of course, these figures are before tax and National Health Insurance are deducted. If your school provides accommodation for you, rent and utility bills may also be deducted from your salary before you receive it.

Exactly how much you get paid usually depends on your qualifications and experiences. People with a recognized EFL / ESL teaching qualification and / or prior experience teaching at home or abroad usually receive slightly higher starting salaries. Seniority within the school is also important. You are likely to get a pay raise if you stay for a second year.

Salaries may not seem very high to you now but remember that the cost of living in Taiwan is relatively low. It used to be that teachers in all English Kindergartens received the best pay. Kindergartens were recently made illegal that is probably no longer true. If you wanted to make more money, you might get a second job, which is part-time.

Take about US $ 1,000 with you when you arrive to help you get set up and keep you going until you get paid.
