Pineapple is not only widely produced here in Taiwan, but Taiwan is also known for producing pineapple cake, with the pineapple's sweet and sour taste mingling with the loose, soft outer skin that seems to melt in your mouth; definitely worth giving it a taste... and more!

This is a famous pastry from Taiwan. These little square cookie-like pastry is filled with real pineapple (not like pineapple bun or bo law bao which does not have any pineapple) . I read somewhere that most of these in stores are not made with pineapple anymore. Instead, it is filled with some kind of melon and flavor with pineapple extract.

 They are ususally wrapped very nicely and packed in boxes as gifts. I suspect that the packaging cost more than the pastry :)
