Visitors to Changhua County during the Lunar New Year holiday can greet the spring blooms in style during the Changhua Flower Festival, which will be held this year from February 2 to 11 in Changhua County.
Festival events are planned in the area along Provincial Highway 1 from the plant nursery area in Yongjing Township to Tianwei Highway Garden, Beidou food district, and Sijhou Park to Wanjing Garden in Sijhou Township. Over 500 hectares of flowers fields have been planted in townships throughout the county. In Tianwei Township, an 8.5-hectare coreopsis farm comes into brilliant bloom around February 2. There will also be plenty of blossoms along the 7.4km loop route at Taiwan Highway Garden. You'll want to get out of your car and rent a bicycle to slow down and smell the flowers. There are 341 hectares of flower farms and plant nurseries at the Taiwan Highway Garden. Chrysanthemums are grown on 120 hectares, with an annual production of 40 million stems. Every year from October to December, you can also enjoy the romantic sight of the flower farms illuminated by lights to control the timing of the blossoms. There are also a large number of nurseries in Tianwei where visitors can buy plants and flowers. Many of the shops serve light meals and beverages as well, including delicious herbal cuisine, herbal hot pots, coffee, herbal tea, and herbal ice cream, all while you are surrounded by the beauty of the gardens. Visitors can also take classes in flower arrangement, rock painting, planter arrangement, and other gardening-related subjects. With so much to do, you'll want to make sure to arrive early.
During the festival, make try the tasty local snacks in Beidou's food district, including meatballs, candy crunch, dried meats, and traditional-style ice desserts. The activities at Sijhou Park will be held daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the closing time will be extended to 9:30 p.m. on February 10 for Valentine's Day activities. Visitors arriving by car can park at lots in Tianwei and Sijhou and take a free shuttle bus to the event sites.
