2012 Dajia Mazu Festival, Procession Lasts for 9 Days 8 Nights

The procession of Mazu during Dajia Mazu Festival has already kicked off on March 23, 2012. The procession will walk across 4 cities during 9 days 8 nights. The ceremony will follow traditional rituals and worship in certain time. There will also be a series of fantastic performances.

The procession of Mazu has become a spotlight event in the world. The scale of the event has expanded from 8 days 7 nights to 9 days 8 nights. The purpose of the event is to agglomerate people via the long journey. Wherever the procession heads to, there are great crowds and the sound of firecrackers. What’s more, a lot of worshippers kneel down on the ground to let the sedan chair of Mazu pass above their bodies. People believe that by doing so Mazu will bring them good luck and erase all the bad things from them.
